Orkester Norden 2012 offers a variety of musical activities. As well as full symphonic concerts the course will include chamber music concerts, individual lessons, master classes and workshops - all of which will take place in the various halls in Kristiansand Teater - og Konserthus Kilden.

Next year Orkester Norden will finally move into one of Northern Europe's most impressive concert halls: Kristiansand Teater - og Konserthus KILDEN!

Kilden Teater - og Konserthus for Sørlandet houses Agder Theatre, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Opera South.

Orkester Norden 2008-2012

Orkester Norden, Kristiansand, Norway

After 15 years in Sweden, Orkester Norden has from 2008 moved to its new home in Kristiansand. The University of Agder, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and The International Church Music Festival formed a joint venture in order to establish a new organization for the orchestra, planned ahead until 2012. So far more than 130 young musicians has experienced the Norwegian edition of Orkester Norden in Kristiansand and the concert tours taking the orchestra to the North Cape and to Italy. blankJean Sibelius (8 December 1865 – 20 September 1957) was a Finnish composer of the later Romantic period whose music played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. His mastery of the orchestra has been described as "prodigious". The core of Sibelius's oeuvre is his set of seven symphonies. Like Beethoven, Sibelius used each successive work to further develop his own personal compositional style. His works continue to be performed frequently in the concert hall and are often recorded.
